Challenges and opportunities present themselves at every stage in your career. My journey as a young Architect has been no different. From the thrills of getting my first qualification to the open-eyed, wide-mouthed moments of being a new starter. I have captured the key takeaways of my journey so far with 6point6.

Everyone understands how you feel

Walking in through the door, not knowing what to expect from a role especially, if like me, you have no prior experience can be daunting. However, that unnerving feeling is washed away quickly when you realise everyone understands how you’re feeling – because they have all been through it!

Along the way you will fail, but with an eagerness to learn quickly, you will get up and continue to achieve your target. We are encouraged to learn from our mistakes to accelerate our learning process. Learning is part of life, and life at 6point6 is fast-paced, exciting and different every day. The wealth of experience within the architecture team enables you to ask for advice, which encourages your personal growth to become the best version of yourself. Everyone is outcome-driven and understands if one fails, then we all fail. The mantra is, we win together.

The work that comes your way, although challenging, helps you learn from the ground up. Leveraging the architecture team for direction is what I do constantly. In doing so, I have been able to steer myself to deliver quality work, which is synonymous with the high-quality 6point6 expects.

Professional Development

6point6 has given me the platform to grow in my journey as a young architect and take control of my career. Within a month of starting, I was studying for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. I’m now preparing to take the AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate exam. The level of support I have received from my line manager and colleagues has given me the confidence to grow my career with 6point6 to become a respected Architect.

I have navigated through the early stages to become an Architect which means I’ll learn something new every day. My journey as an Architect has only just begun and I am fortunate to have started it with 6point6.
