Assistant Accountant
Location: London/Remote

Type of Contract: Full-time
Entering a new stage of growth within the company and the team, the individual will be responsible for full ownership of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Cash Management. Opportunities are abundant to expand to support the existing management accounting processes and other areas as the business continues to expand and make significant investments.
The ideal candidate will embrace change in a rapidly growing company, partner and build effective relationships with stakeholders around the business. Success in this role will require applying technical knowledge, improve existing processes and develop strong interpersonal relationships.
Requirements
Accounts Payable
• Process invoices in the accounting system
• Liaise with suppliers and approvers to ensure invoices are correct
• Schedule and organise payments in order to be ready on time
• Prepare weekly payments for suppliers and employee expenses
• Maintain schedules and visibility of upcoming payments
• Challenge costs where necessary to drive improvements
Accounts Receivable
• Issue all invoices to clients
• Manage the debtors ledger to ensure payments are received on time
• Escalate any issues with outstanding debtors to appropriate stakeholders internally
• Drive debtor days down to maximise cash
Payroll
• Liaise with People team in order to understand the changes in the month
• Prepare this data for review with the finance manager
• Issue payroll files to payroll bureau
• Verify and upload payment file to bank for authorisation
Cash Management
• Daily issuance of bank statements
• Update cash flow schedule for cash visibility
• Maintain the bank reconciliation of a weekly basis
• Manage payments for VAT and PAYE to HMRC
• Update cash flow schedule for estimates on future cash flows
• Ensure group accounts are funded when required
Opportunities to develop
• Streamline daily, weekly and monthly processes
• Create space to allow time to be involved in management accounting
• Support integration when acquiring new businesses
• Support organisational changes to payroll/taxation/policies
Requirements
Technical Knowledge
- AAT qualified or foundation level ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) or looking to start
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong analytical mindset
Communication Skills
- Capable of persuasive verbal and written communication by presenting complex issues and recommendations in a clear and logical manner
- Strong interpersonal skills with capacity to interact with all levels and departments around the business
Project Management and Organisational Skills
- Ability to effectively prioritise multiple projects with the highest attention to detail
- Improve the effectiveness of the Finance Team by identifying and implementing process efficiencies
- Maintain personal & professional development to meet the changing demands of the role
